Subject:Missing the point.

I was cycling to work in Chippenham recently, and came to a stop at the Bridge Centre where my eye was caught by an avert on the back of the vehicle in front of me. 'Eco Party Bags' Environmentally friendly childrens party bags. Calne.
Sounds great until you realise it was on the back of a large Landrover Turbo!!! Do you think they might be missing the point somewhat or just jumping on the band-wagon? I notice that they do home deliveries!! Hmmmmm? Don't think i'll be buying from them.

Subject:waste disposal..and recycle dumps

Hi everyone!!!!! This is my first post!

I`ve been travelling up to Marlborough recently and there is a really horrific smell as you head out of Calne towards the White Horse. It`s not a farm smell!! What is it??????? It never used to be there.

Re.recycling dumps: I don`t get it ,i really don`t.You have countless numbers of people in cars polluting the planet driving to these dumps to get rid of their waste. This is mad! Making a special journey to save the planet!!! This doesnt make any sense at all.

Best to all,Sam

The Government is intending to shortly bring in a new law that will allow major projects - nuclear power stations, incinerators, airports, large windfarms and so forth - to have their planning consent decided at westminster, and not by the County Council. This means we could have a large windfarm located in Wiltshire, generating electricity for a sizeable proportion of the population. Is this a good idea and, if it is, where would be the best place to locate it ? Alternatively, should we be saying to the Government - don't change the law and keep these planning decisions with the County Council ? Or is the County Council just an obstacle in the way of the need for fundamental changes in planning procedures and law ?

Subject:Recycling of Household waste

Am I alone in thinking that Wiltshire County council could do more to encourage every household to recycle its recyclable waste (paper of all kinds, cardboard, glass, metals, plastics,) and compostable waste (kitchen waste) ? Why does Wiltshire CC not collect all types of paper, cardboard, and plastics ? Why does it not collect kitchen waste ? Other Councils in the UK do, so why not Wiltshire - what is stopping them ?

Where can I find out more information about how Wiltshire is handling its waste, particularly what they are doing to increase recycling?
